Morning Session - Sports-Based Youth Development 101
While sport is uniquely suited to help young people learn life skills that can help them be successful on and off the field, it’s not a given that all young people will have a positive experience in sports activities. This interactive workshop will explore the ways in which youth sports coaches can create safe environments that maximize learning. This workshop session will provide turn-key strategies for turning every sport experience into a positive learning opportunity.
Length: 2 hours
Afternoon Session - Where Are All the Girls?
Do you struggle to engage girls in co-ed sporting activities? During this session participants will explore the specific challenges and opportunities of working with girls and provide tools to effectively engage more girls in the game. This interactive session focuses on creating strategies for engagement, safe environments to support taking risks, building meaningful peer relationships, and introducing ways to help stoke a long-term commitment to making healthy choices.

About Megan Bartlett, Facilitator
Megan Bartlett established We Coach to support organizations committed to using sports to promote youth development and give coaches the tools they need to help kids succeed. At We Coach, she has co-created innovative coaching initiatives for Nike, built capacity for community based organizations, and has partnered with the Child Trauma Academy to make coaches more brain-aware. Prior to creating We Coach, she worked for 10 years at Up2Us Sports, where she created the first national coach training program to integrate trauma-informed practices into a sport context. Megan is the co-author of the book Re-Designing Youth Sports: Change the Game.
